Bridal design studio

It always begins with an idea..

At “Magnolia in Bloom” , we start with a mood board and color palette prior to any collection; however, changes may occur during creation process. The initial idea is sketched and then we reflect on how to bring that to life. The construction of the base is as crucial as the making of the flowers. We always try to design practical and comfortable pieces, yet it should not be forgotton that our pieces have to be treated with care.

Subsequent to the preparation of the base, we start discussing our options for the adornements including satin or silk abaca ribbons and flowers. We always keep a stock of various silk flowers and try to find the best ones for our pieces.

The process of silk flower making is rather different. We are usually inspired by nature and the creation process starts with preparing the patterns for flowers. The most critical step is choosing the right fabric type because that is going to affect the shape, color and feeling of the final design. Then the number of petals needed for each flower will be determined and the fabric will be cut accordingly. Sometimes the dying process occurs before cutting but we usually prefer to dye the fabric after cutting the patterns. Eventually the coloured petals will be ironed and formed in to the desired shape. The Japanese art of silk flower making or Somebana needs proper experience to perfect the creation process. The last step is assembeling the petals around our exquisitely beautiful stamens.
